The demand for hotel management professionals is already huge and will continue to grow as the number of hotels in India and the world continues to grow. Apart from its glamour, a career in hotel management has become lucrative and exciting, attracting more and more students to opt for it. A hotel management job involves several skills such as food and beverage service, office operations, sales and marketing, accounting, etc. Many government colleges and private institutes in India offer certificates, diplomas or diploma courses in hotel management.

Hospitality Management and Tourism is the study of the hospitality industry. The subject’s degree can be completed either in a college specializing in hospitality education or in a business school with a relevant department.

Eligibility Criteria
 

The minimum qualification necessary for a hotel management course is 10+2. Depending on the cost and duration, one can opt for a certificate, diploma, or degree course.

  • Certificate courses can be of six months to one-year duration
  • A diploma of two years
  • Degree course of three years duration

Selection for government-recognized colleges and institutes are done through the common entrance test held in April every year. The test consists of multiple-choice questions in English, Reasoning, General Science, and General knowledge.

Education Required

  • Candidates must have completed BSc/ BA or any other relevant degree in hospitality management.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office, Enterprise resource planning, or other relevant software.
  • Good knowledge of hospitality procedures and best practices.
